COVID is the name given to the disease that is caused by SARS CoV2. SARS stands for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. However, COVID seems to cause an enormous range of effects – some people have COVID and do not even know it, there are no symptoms, whereas for a small minority it seems to cause potentially serious complications, especially if they have underlying conditions.
In this talk, Dr Philip McMillan, Consultant Physician in the NHS, UK, with over 25 years of medical expertise, sheds light on the COVID phenomenon from the perspective of autoimmunity and outline what this means for the medical approach taken to the disease.
