Dr David Laird, Consultant at University Hospital North Durham. He was appointed Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management in 1990. He is also College Tutor in Anaesthesia; Chair of Deanery Specialist Training Committee in Anaesthesia; Undergraduate Lead in Durham from 2004; and Lead Clinical Tutor.
In 1999 he was awarded the Wyeth Travelling Fellowship to North Carolina and obtained the Certificate in Medical Education.
David developed the Multidisciplinary Pain Management Service winning 2005 NHS Regional Innovation award and established the Hospital Palliative care service 1993. He is currently developing early intervention pain management programmes with primary care colleagues.

Special interests: Headache, Cancer Pain, Musculoskeletal Pain, Neuropathic Pain (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), Medically Unexplained Pain Syndromes including Fibromyalgia & Pelvic Pain.
Training: Queen’s University Medical School, Belfast & Anaesthetic training rotation with Pain Attachments to Oxford King’s College Hospital and St Christopher’s Hospice, London.
