Body-psychotherapeutic Perspectives in Working with Parents and Babys within Acute Crisis
Live stream with Thomas Harms
New date to be announced soon
Thomas Harms is one of the presenters at this year's Baby Conference in Bristol. His work of 'Emotional First Aid' was developed to help parents navigate through crises of their infant around crying, sleeping and feeding.
Emotional self-regulation is a key concept in this approach. Through mindful self-observation or with specific use of their breathing, the parents learn to regulate their child's crying better and guide him through the crisis. The main aim of body psychotherapeutical crisis intervention is to strengthen the parents' ability to sense their child and resonate with him.
In this presentation, Thomas will elaborate on the role the breath and self-attachment play in the regulation of the parent's emotions in crisis situations.
